MIAMI – Miami police are investigating a possible road rage shooting that resulted in a person being shot.
Sky 10 was overhead of the scene at Northwest 12th Avenue and Northwest Seventh Street, where an SUV with the driver's side window shot out was beside a pool of blood.
Police confirm the shooting and that a man, identified Wednesday as Ciro Luis Iglesias, 62, was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition. A witness told Local 10 News that the victim was not moving when authorities arrived.
Crime scene tape was seen at another location blocks away, but it has yet to be determined if the gold Buick SUV at that location was involved with the other.
"We have one person detained and being questioned as we speak," Christopher Ness, of Miami police, said. "Both vehicles were stopped and one male approached the other vehicle where shots rang out."
The bridge at Northwest 12th Avenue has been shutdown in both directions during the investigation.
Juan Hernandez, who works at a nearby gas station, said he heard three gunshots.
Tricia Cantillo, who lives in the area, said she heard that there was an argument, and that Iglesias got out the car before the man inside the car shot him.
"There was an argument between the guy and the old man and the old man got off the car to argue about whatever happened in the traffic, and the guy from inside the car shot him," she said.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
