Police search for Peeping Tom that has Miami neighborhood on edge

MIAMI – Video footage captured a man looking through a Miami apartment window, and now the search is on for the Peeping Tom.

Just one glance at the surveillance video was all it took for Sofia Galiano’s nerves to be rattled.

“They don’t belong on the property, they definitely don’t belong in my backyard and they shouldn’t be looking into my window,” she said. “It’s an invasion of privacy.”

The Miami Police Department is on the case, actively investigating the unidentified prowler at the four-unit apartment building at Northwest 74th Street and First Court.

The strange man has been spotted prowling on the property at least three times in recent weeks.

The last time was Sunday, when he bypassed a number of “No Trespassing” signs and series of cameras to unlatch a backyard fence, where he appeared to make himself comfortable while peeping into Galiano’s back window.

“I don’t know what his intention is, but we don’t know him and he doesn’t belong here,” she said.

Local 10 News’ cameras spotted a pair of detectives from the department’s Special Victims Unit back on the property Monday night, collecting possible leads to remove the concern and fear now spreading throughout the neighborhood.

“People are scared,” said Galiano. “Who knows whose bedroom he’s looking into, because so far it’s been two women, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s done this to other people in the neighborhood.”
