CORAL GABLES, Fla. – A massive tree fell Wednesday on the property of the oldest continually occupied home in Coral Gables.
Kathleen Zorn says she and her husband were woken up Wednesday morning after hearing the 80-foot ficus tree fall.
"I heard a crack last night," said Zorn. "We knew lighting hit something."
The home located on Ponce De Leon Road off Sunset Drive is believed to have been built around 1896.
Ponce De Leon Road will remain closed for a couple of hours as half a dozen crews saw through branches and the trunk to remove the ficus off the street.
