According to a police report, Taylor burglarized a home and stole the homeowner's car keys before he took off in the victim's Volkswagen Jetta.
Detectives found Taylor and his girlfriend, Quantazesha Moneisha Clark, 19, who was also with him during the Aventura incident, at a motel where they were renting a room.
Authorities said the stolen car was parked in the motel's parking lot.
According to the report, Taylor signed a search affidavit that allowed detectives to search the motel room.
Detectives said they found a semi-automatic handgun in a plastic bag in the refrigerator with a separate box of ammunition.
A teletype check revealed that the gun had been stolen from Hollywood.
Detectives said Taylor refused to speak to them without his attorney present, but said Clark gave them plenty of information.
Police said Clark claimed that Taylor had purchased the gun from a man she knew by the name "Jizzie," and said Jizzie and Taylor burglarized the home together.
About $5,000 worth of jewelry and electronics were taken from the home.
Police said Taylor also stole several credit cards and attempted to use them to purchase items online.
Police said Taylor sold several of the stolen items to people "on the streets and used the profits to buy clothes."
The State Attorney's Office dropped the stolen firearm and stolen car charges against Taylor.
He remains in the Broward County Jail without bond.
His next hearing is scheduled for Nov. 12.
