PARKLAND, Fla. – A South Florida synagogue was targeted by vandals on the eve of the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah.
Vandals spray painted portions of Chabad of Parkland, 7170 Loxahatchee Road, with black spray paint, leaving messages that read "free Palestine" and another that read "(expletive) 12."
"Certainly it was a hate crime and it was intentional that it was on a synagogue, and that's unfortunate, but our response to these types of attacks is to add a little positive energy and some light and love," Rabbi Shuey Biston said.
The targeted synagogue is attended by Broward Sheriff Scott Israel, who helped clean up the spray paint, along with other volunteers.
The Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $4,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
