Police were called to the home along the 5800 block of Northwest 19th Street Monday morning.

Police said the baby's death did not appear to be criminal, but the case is still under investigation.

"Every child death is a tragedy and we mourn with this family over the loss of this child. Broward County Sheriff's Office is investigating and we will assist in any way possible," DCF secretary Mike Carroll said.

Details about previous contact with the family was not immediately released.

All child protective investigations in Broward County are conducted by BSO.
