After he floated out of the canal with the tide, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Dolphins Research Center rescued him.
He suffered cuts to his tail and crushed vertebrae, according to the Dolphin Research Center in Marathon, Fla. A part of the manatee’s fluke had to be amputated.
