HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – The Hollywood Police Department said it received two reports of an attempted abduction or sexual battery Friday.
A woman was walking around 6:33 a.m. Friday in the 1900 block of Funston Street when she was approached from behind.
Police said a sheet was placed over the woman's head and she was picked up in a "bear hug."
The woman was threatened with a knife. However, it was not seen by the woman, police said. The woman then began to struggle.
The man ran away when a vehicle approached, police said.
A girl was on her way to school around 6:46 a.m. Friday when the man threw a cloth over her head in the 300 block of S. 21st Avenue. Police said the girl began to struggle and eventually screamed, causing the man to flee.
The woman and girl described the man as black with a light complexion who was about 30 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 130-140 pounds and had a full facial beard. The victims told police the man wore a black baseball cap, black shirt and black jeans.
