HIALEAH, Fla. – A Hialeah day care was evacuated for a short time Friday morning after authorities responded to a gas leak in the area.
Hialeah Fire Department spokesman Cesar Espinosa said the gas leak was the result of construction being performed at 875 E. Ninth Lane.

About 50 children from the day care were moved to a shaded area for a short time until the leak was capped.
A hazmat crew and City Gas Company repaired the leak and employees and children were allowed to go back inside at about 9:30 a.m.
