MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said a brush fire near Southwest 120th Avenue and 224th Street in southwest Miami-Dade County is now contained.
Firefighters said the fire spread across 150 acres.
"As you can see, it's dry today and the winds are picking up and then they die down, so that's what's been hindering our progress," Lt. Arnold Piedrahita said.
Henry Steven, who lives nearby, was grilling and entertaining his friends. He wasn't concerned about the fire.
"I think the fireman has it under control," he said. "Otherwise they would have come and warned us and asked us to evacuate."
Piedrahita said firefighters were trying to make the flames burn out on their own.
"However, all it takes is one gust of wind and it'll jump," Piedrahita said.
Nobody was injured in the fire.
