NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – Four people are recovering at Jackson Memorial Hospital after two separate shootings in North Miami.
Maritza Pelegrin, who lives in the area of the shooting reported at Northwest 125th Street and Eighth Avenue, told Local 10 News that she called 911 Sunday after a victim showed up at her doorstep, bleeding profusely.
"I hear somebody banging at the door and my son was also there saying, 'Mom, open the door. Open the door. This young lady got shot,'" Pelegrin said.
Not long after that shooting, police were called to an address nine blocks away, where three men were shot outside a house party near Northwest 125th Street and 17th Avenue.
Police said a gunman opened fire at the crowd.
The victims' names and conditions haven't been released, but police said the three men who were shot are expected to survive.
Police are investigating whether the two shootings are connected.
