Video shows protesters running into road to block presidential motorcade

6 protesters arrested during presidential visit to Palm Beach County

LANTANA, Fla. – A new video obtained Wednesday by Local10.com shows the moment when a group of protesters ran into the middle of Lantana Road last week to block a presidential motorcade.

Five people were arrested Thursday by Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies after they tried to block the motorcade taking Chinese President Xi Jinping from Palm Beach International Airport to the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa in Manalapan.

Xi was meeting with President Donald Trump at Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach.

Video provided by Daniel Gong, office director of Initiatives for China, a human rights group based in Washington, shows two men running in front of traffic as the motorcade passes.

As the camera pans, a woman is seen lying in the middle of the road as deputies put her hands behind her back and carry her to a nearby sidewalk. At one point, a motorcycle deputy drags the woman before another deputy helps lift her and carry her the rest of the way.

A protester is swarmed by motorcycle deputies after she ran into the middle of Lantana Road as a presidential motorcade was passing.

The video shows another man standing near the sidewalk with a camera around his neck being handcuffed, along with the two men who ran into traffic.

PBSO spokeswoman Teri Barbera identified the five individuals arrested as Kuo Jia, Jianbin Juan, Yong Tian Ma, Weixue Zhang and Haihan Yang. They face charges of resisting arrest without violence and obstruction of a roadway.

A sixth protester, Chun Yan Wang, was arrested Friday.

Trump is expected to return to South Florida to spend Easter weekend.
