FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Firefighters had to rescue three people who were trapped in a car that crashed into a guardrail on Interstate 95 early Thursday morning.
The crash occurred shortly after 4 a.m. at the southbound off-ramp to State Road 84.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Timothy Heiser said it took 15 firefighters more than 30 minutes to free the victims from the mangled wreckage. Firefighters had to remove the roof and doors of the Ford Focus to get to the victims.
A "drive safely" sign could be seen near the crash location. The sign is a memorial for a previous crash.
All three victims were taken to Broward Health Medical Center. Their conditions were not immediately known.
