STOCK ISLAND, Fla. – A fire destroyed a family-owned business in Stock Island Thursday morning.
According to deputies, a man was on his way to work at about 4 a.m. when he saw flames shooting out of Todd's Garage and White's Welding shop on Second Avenue.
The man called 911 and authorities said there was heavy smoke and flames coming from the building when they arrived.
Monroe County firefighters extinguished the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
