MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A fire broke out Thursday morning at a home in northwest Miami-Dade, authorities said.
Sky 10 was above the home at 2331 NW 101st St. at 9:30 a.m. and saw at least two vehicles that were burned in the fire.
Smoke could be seen coming out of the back part of the home as firefighters hosed down the home.
"There were cars burning in the yard close to the neighboring houses as well, so they kind of had to negotiate the resources they had as far as manpower and water initially, and keep that fire in check, and keep it from spreading to the neighboring houses," Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Chief John Meic said.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said two people inside the home and their dog got out safely, although a man who lives at the home was treated at the scene for burns on his arm when he tried to extinguish the fire with two fire extinguishers.
Authorities said the fire started in the back of the home. It took crews about 20 minutes to extinguish the fire.
"Our crews did a good job," Meic said. "They went in, made an attack on the fire and were able to keep it confined to the house and to the cars, and prevent any further extension."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
