MIAMI – A small fire broke out in the early morning hours at a downtown Miami school.
The fire occurred at the New World School of the Arts located at 25 NE Second St. at around 1:30 a.m.

A Miami-Dade schools spokesperson said the fire started in the gallery most likely due to a problem with the school's A/C air handler.
The fire was contained to the first floor of the school and only two projects in the gallery suffered minimal damage.
The building was open for normal school activity Tuesday morning.
