Federal food assistance sites to reopen in Miami-Dade, Broward counties

DSNAP shut down due to long lines, lack of staffing

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – The Florida Department of Children and Families is reopening the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or DSNAP, in Miami-Dade and Broward counties after shutting it down nearly three weeks ago due to long lines and not enough staffing.

From Nov. 7-9, DSNAP will run operations with the assistance of local law enforcement.

In Broward County, the event will be held at the BB&T Center in Sunrise. The Sunrise Police Department said bags or personal items larger than 12 by 12 inches, backpacks, coolers, and chairs will not be permitted.

In Miami-Dade County, the event will be held at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Stadium officials said its clear bag policy will be in effect for each day of the event.
