WILTON MANORS, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale firefighters worked before sunrise Tuesday morning to extinguish the flames from a house fire in Wilton Manors.
A Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue spokesman said the fire started in the garage sometime before 6 a.m. and quickly spread to the kitchen, causing extensive damage to the house at Northeast 17th Avenue and 24th Street.

The family who lives at the home escaped the flames without injury.
The American Red Cross was called to assist the family.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
