MIAMI ā During his visit to South Florida Friday, Donald Trump met with Haitians in Little Haiti, and at a rally in downtown Miami he cheered Cubans and made promises to Venezuelans.Ā
After speaking to a small group at the Little Haiti Cultural Center about accusations against Hillary Clinton's failure after the 2010 earthquake, he faced some 2,500 at the James L. Knight Center.
With a "Les Deplorables" sign and the "Les Miserables" music, his campaign poked fun at Clinton's "basket ofĀ deplorables" remark.
The Republican candidate told Cubans that if he was elected Nov. 8th, he was going to reverse President Barack Obama's decision to reestablish relations with the Communist island.
Some of his demands to Cuban President Raul Castro, he said, will include religious and political freedom for Cubans.Ā
Trump promised to help the "oppressed" Venezuelans and to repeal Obamacare. He also recycled an attack on Clinton's position on gun control.
"I think her bodyguards should drop all weapons. Disarm immediately," Trump said. "Take their guns away, let's see what happens to her."
Ā Before heading to South Florida, Trump acknowledged Obama was born in America. But then he immediately peddled another false conspiracy.Ā
"Clinton and her campaign of 2008 started the birther conspiracy," Trump said. "I finished it."
Clinton has long denounced it as a "racist lie."Ā
African-American members of Congress held a news conference near Washington's convention center to denounce him immediately after his appearance.
