Driver sought in hit-and-run crash that killed pedestrian in Wilton Manors

Raymond King, 39, appeared to be injured, bleeding before entering roadway

WILTON MANORS, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff's Office is searching for a driver who ran over an injured man Friday morning in Wilton Manors.

The incident was reported about 3 a.m. near the intersection of Northeast Sixth Avenue and 27th Court.

Deputies said it appears that Raymond King, 39, was injured and bleeding while walking along the sidewalk on Sixth Avenue before lying down in the roadway.

Deputies said King was then run over by a vehicle that was traveling north at about 30 mph.

Authorities said it's unclear how King became injured before he entered the roadway.

The impact of the crash moved King's body about 37 feet onto the grass swale on the east side of the street.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.
