MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. ā A blind dog seen struggling in a Miami Gardens lake was rescued by good Samaritans who went out searching for the little pup.
Sky 10 was overhead near Northwest 179th Terrace and 54th Avenue when a man a rowboat was able to catch up to the dog after it wound up onshore.
The man was able to get the dog in his boat and rowed it to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews waiting on the opposite side of the lake.
The dog, which is tagged, was taken inside a rescue vehicle where it was given oxygen and then driven to a nearby station in Miami Lakes to wait for animal services.
Authorities said it's unclear how the dog, named Boston, ended up in the lake, but said it appears to be happy and in good health.
Boston was reunited with his homeowner's sister, Barbara Terry, who was dog-sitting while her brother is out of town.
"We saw it on the news," Terry said, adding she was watching Local 10 News.Ā
Terry said she couldn't believe that Boston had wandered away and is thankful that he is OK.Ā
"We were babysitting, never again I guess," Terry said. "I think we lost our jobs."Ā
