Pembroke Pines police spokeswoman Amanda Conwell said a small, black SUV, possibly a Kia Soul, pulled up behind the victim as she was getting out of her car with her 18-year-old daughter.
According to an incident report, the women had just returned home from the movies and were getting stuff out of their truck when they saw a dark-colored vehicle pull into their driveway.
Police said the daughter turned around and saw a man pointing a silver revolver at her head. He told her in a thick accent, "Give me money. Give me all of it."
Police said the woman gave her bag to the robber and then he went over to her mother, demanding cash.
Police said the woman gave him her purse, which contained her keys and cellphone and then ran toward her home.
The woman turned back, noticed that her daughter was still by their car and then robber approached the 18-year-old a second time and stole her cellphone that she was holding, police said.
The victims told detectives that they believe the person who robbed them was the driver.
Conwell said police were unable to locate the robbers after the incident. The women described the man who approached them as a black man with a thick accent and unkempt beard.
Conwell said the robbery is considered to be an isolated incident, however a neighbor reported that a suspicious vehicle had followed her home earlier in the day and parked a few houses away from the victim's home.
Conwell said this might be unrelated, but police advise residents to use caution and be aware of their surroundings when parking their vehicles.
Anyone who believes that they are being followed is advised to not park in their driveway, but to keep driving and call 911.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Pembroke Pines police at 954-431-2200 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
