FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A 17-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy who was walking on a sidewalk earlier this week, police said.
Christopher Stewart, 17, of Miramar, faces a charge of second-degree murder in the drive-by shooting that killed Carlixto Logan.
Logan was shot Tuesday night near Northwest 105th Street and Northwest Sixth Avenue.
Police said Logan was shot several times while walking home from a gas station. He was pronounced dead at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.
Miami-Dade police Detective Marjorie Eloi said Stewart was arrested by Miramar police during a traffic stop. She said a records check revealed that Stewart was wanted on a second-degree murder warrant in Miami-Dade County.
Stewart was arrested and booked into the Broward County Juvenile Assessment Center in Fort Lauderdale.
A check of Stewart's Florida criminal history shows that the teenager has been arrested eight times since 2013 on various charges, including burglary and robbery.
