Men facing charges in fatal stabbing of nuclear engineer to appear in court Monday

Judge denies bond for men accused of killing Alexander Restrepo

MIAMI – Two brothers and their friends were in Miami-Dade County jail facing charges in the fatal stabbing of Alexander Restrepo. They were set to appear in court Monday for a probable cause hearing.

The Oct. 21 stabbing happened outside of a house party after an argument, according to the Miami-Dade County Police Department. Detectives arrested Edwin Rios, 24, in connection with the crime Thursday.

Alejandro Tapia, 22, Sebastian Zorrilla, 20, and Andres Feo, 24, were later arrested and appeared Sunday in front of Miami-Dade County Judge Spencer Eig.

Their attorneys claimed Rios was the one who attacked the 33-year-old victim.

"We're asking the court for some sort of a bond in this case," an attorney asked Eig.

"OK, the court respectfully denies the request," Eig said.

The four men were denied bond and were facing second-degree murder with a deadly weapon and second-degree attempted murder charges.
