Man dies in Dania Beach shooting after dispute with neighbor, deputies say

Rooby Gedelus, 28, faces first-degree murder charge

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – A man died Thursday afternoon in a fatal Dania Beach shooting following a dispute with his neighbor, Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said.

The shooting took place about 7:40 p.m. in the 100 block of Southwest Fifth Court.

Deputies said the man, identified Friday as Odney Charles, 25, was confronted in his home by a group of people and the argument quickly moved outside.

Deputies said Charles was shot several times outside his home. He was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Anna Eubanks said Charles called him just before the shooting.

"(He said) that him and his girlfriend just got a job at Jaxson's, and, you know, he was trying to do right," Eubanks said.

Detectives said they arrested Charles' neighbor, Rooby Gedelus, 28, in connection with his murder.

Gedelus faces a first-degree murder charge.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
