Detectives comb for clues after 3 killed inside Lauderhill home

Neighbors say victims are father, girlfriend, adult son

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – Lauderhill police detectives are expected to be at a home for several days as they work to determine how and why three people were killed there on Monday.

Detectives are releasing little information so far about what they've discovered inside the blue house at 3650 NW 3rd St.

Two cars and an SUV were towed from the driveway Tuesday morning, and boxes of evidence were carried out.

At least one body was removed from the home by the Medical Examiner's Office.

"We're feeling pretty bad because we knew them," Tangela Brown, who lives next door, said. "They are very sweet people -- no trouble, especially his son. He was great. (He) was my son's best friend."

Family friends and neighbors said those killed were a father, his girlfriend and his adult son. Authorities later confirmed their identities as Dwight Brown, 42, his son Denzel Brown, 21, and Lisa Foreman, 50. Foreman was a longtime employee at the Broward Clerk of Courts.

Grief counselors were on hand Tuesday to help employees cope with the tragedy.

"It's been hard. I still have to process it," Denzel Brown's girlfriend Cynlita Grace said. "It's like having everything taken away from you. But he was good. His family was good. They treated me like a daughter."

Grace said she and Brown were getting ready to move in with each other, until Monday's killing shattered her world.

"He always made it clear how much he was in love with me and that was really one of the last things he told me, so really knowing that he genuinely loved me, that's what keeps me smiling," Grace said.

Neighbors were also stunned by the homicide, saying the family was never involved in any trouble.

"I'm shocked. That's a family home for maybe 30 something years," Brown said. "Like I say, I never heard the guy even yell, let alone his son. (He was a) sweetheart."

Police said they got a call at 2 p.m. Monday and made the discovery once going into the home.

The woman's daughter collapsed to the ground when she showed up and was given the news.

Neighbors are left wondering what happened just as much as the family.

Brown said her son was up all night crying after finding out that his best friend had died.

"I got a phone call from home that the next door neighbors had been shot," Brown said. "I didn't know if they was killed or what happened. I just came home and we found out the worst. We're all coping with it (and) haven't slept last night, probably just like his family."

Police have not said how the people were killed or whether it was domestic-related.

It's unclear whether they are searching for a suspect.
