82-foot yacht catches fire in Coconut Grove

Cause of fire under investigation

MIAMI – The Miami Department of Fire-Rescue put out a fire on an 82-foot yacht Monday night.

Firefighters were called to the area behind Grove Isle at 1600 S. Bayshore Drive just after 8 p.m.

Capt. Ignatius Carroll said after extinguishing the fire, which was confined to the rear of the yacht, firefighters verified that no one was on board.

The owner of the yacht, which is called Anditi, said the boat was used Sunday and appeared to be working fine.

"We just heard, like, a crash, and then I looked out the balcony and I saw flames coming out the back of that boat," witness Carlos Danger told Local 10 News.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
