Cooper City baseball coach accused of molestation appears before judge

David Solomon held without bond, charged with 2 counts of sexual abuse on minor

COOPER CITY, Fla. – The Cooper City baseball coach accused of molestation stood silent during a hearing Saturday morning.

David Solomon, 47, is being held without bond at the Broward County Jail charged with two counts of sexual abuse on a minor.

"He sexually abused one of his victims while they were in the car and he was giving the child a ride home," said Gina Carter with the Broward Sheriff's Office. "He had the child come over for a sleep over to watch a sporting event and abused him again."

Deputies arrested Solomon on Thursday at his Cooper City home.

Deputies said he used his position as a baseball coach to find his victims and urged them to stay silent about what happened.

In 2000, Solomon was charged with a similar crime. He was accused of abusing two boys who played on the baseball team he coached in Hialeah Gardens. One of the boys recanted and the charges were dropped.

Investigators said at least one other victim has come forward and more charges could be pending, also fearing that even more children may have suffered abuse.
