Mossman fell overboard while the ship was located off the coast of Key Largo, about 36 nautical miles south of Carysfort Reef Light.

The Coast Guard searched 2,583 square nautical miles by air and sea before calling off the search Sunday.

"We want to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Mossman, as the decision to suspend a search is never an easy one to make and is done with great care and deliberation," Coast Guard search-and-rescue technical specialist Chris Eddy said. "Unfortunately, despite our best efforts and an exhaustive search, our crews were unable to locate him."

The Navigator of the Seas returned to Port Everglades on Saturday.
