FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A pilot was forced to land his plane on its belly at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport after reporting landing gear problems Sunday afternoon.
The pilot reported to officials the safety light was on in his single-engine Piper Arrow aircraft.
The pilot decided to burn off fuel in a practice area before making the tricky landing.
Video shows he put the plane very low to the ground before sliding on the runway.
A man jumped out of the plane and was met by firefighters.
The rough landing follows another similar incident Friday at North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines. In that incident, the landing gear of a twin Tecnum aircraft collapsed on impact with the runway.
No one was injured in either of the incidents, and the malfunctions remain under investigation.
