NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A Broward Sheriff's Office captain who serves as the chief of North Lauderdale has been suspended for "conduct unbecoming an employee."

Will Jackson, who has been with the department for nearly 20 years, is under criminal investigation after an incident involving police in Coconut Creek.

A heavily redacted incident report shows that the case stems from Jackson being pulled over after allegedly failing to stop at a red light at Northwest 39th Avenue and Wiles Road. What happened from there remains unclear.

The department has refused to comment on the case, which is now in the hands of the State Attorney's Office.

BSO officials confirmed that Jackson is suspended with pay and was ordered to turn in his badge. He is currently prohibited from entering Sheriff's property and was replaced by Capt. Kennard Campbell this week.
