Body found in Sweetwater identified as 17-year-old Romina Fernandez

SWEETWATER, Fla. – A body found behind a strip mall in Sweetwater Saturday night has been identified as that of 17-year-old Romina Fernandez.

According to investigators, officers were called to the strip mall on Flagler Street and 114th Avenue at about 9:15 p.m. after reports of fire. Once the fire was extinguished, Fernandez's body was discovered.

On Friday, many of Fernandez's loved ones tweeted about the discovery. One woman wrote, "Rip to my baby girl Romina Fernandez. All the memories we had will never fade away. I love you." Another tweet stated, "Crazy how things can happen so unexpectedly. RIP Romina Fernandez."

The cause of death has not been determined at this time.
