MIAMI – The Miami-Dade County Youth Fair & Exposition opened Thursday.
State inspectors checked more than 100 rides Wednesday.
"It's everything that we do. I mean, we have to go through inspections for everything, and it's just important, obviously, for safety reasons is the main thing," said Nancy Chevres with the Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo. "We want to make sure that everything is operated to its optimal."
Miami-Dade County Youth Fair & Exposition is located at Southwest 24th Street and 112th Avenue. Gates open on weekdays at 3 p.m. and at noon on weekends.
General admission is $10 and children younger than five get in free.
Game operators and about 200 food vendors were also on-site Wednesday preparing for opening day.
"The circus has five brand-new acts inside of the tent," said Chevres.
