60-foot motor yacht catches fire off Indian Creek Island Road

Cause of fire under investigation

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade firefighters extinguished flames early Monday on a 60-foot motor yacht, authorities said.

The fire was reported about 12:30 a.m. off Indian Creek Island Drive.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokeswoman Erika Benitez said in an email that the yacht was docked behind a house when it became engulfed in flames.

"Flames were visible all the way from the bridge that is located about a mile away from where the boat was docked," Benitez said.

Benitez said the fire was quickly extinguished.

No one was on board the yacht when the fire broke out and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
