MIAMI – Two pharmacies in Miami were burglarized early Wednesday just 20 minutes apart from each other, police said.
The first burglary was reported about 4:30 a.m. at Union Pharmacy, 6456 W. Flagler St.
Surveillance video from the business shows three men using a crow bar to break through the iron gate and metal door to the building.
Once inside, one of the men took out his cellphone because he couldn't see anything.
The thieves looked around for about two minutes, but left because the alarm was sounding.
The pharmacy owners said it will cost about $1,500 to repair the door and iron gate. They said their business was previously burglarized three years ago, when thieves stole perfumes.
The second burglary was reported about 4:50 a.m. at Salus Pharmacy and Supply, 4677 W. Flagler St.
According to an employee at the pharmacy, three masked men smashed the glass back door to get inside and took cough medication worth $20.
Employees believe the thieves were looking for medication with Codeine, a narcotic pain medicine and cough reliever.
They said the pharmacy was also targeted about a year ago, when lottery tickets were taken.
The employees believe the thieves knew exactly where to go and could have been customers.
