2 men arrested, accused in multiple robberies in Miami-Dade County

Suspects arrested in Johnson and Wales University parking lot

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police arrested two men they say went on a crime spree in Miami-Dade County on Monday, committing at least five robberies in three cities.

Sky 10 was over the scene as police handcuffed one of the suspects in the parking lot of Johnson and Wales University.

Police said John C. Rarick (pictured below), 29, and Alexander B. Cohen, 29, attempted to rob a Walgreens on 123 Street and Biscayne Boulevard. The duo was also responsible for a robbery at an Aventura Target and Nordstrom's, a crash through a toll booth in Bal Harbor Isle, and robbing a man in North Miami and a woman in Sunny Isles Beach, police said.

Justin Dickason, 19, said he had just walked into his dorm room at the university when chaos broke out near the entrance of school.

"I turned around real fast and I heard tires screeching," Dickason said. "I saw the guy hop out of the car and the cop pummeled him to the ground and the other guy was behind him with the dog."

Maj. Neal Cuevas, with the North Miami Police Department, said the duo was looking for any opportunity to rob people or establishments.

"A lot of times we go to a certain location and they go to another one," he said. "So, we were always on their tail and that's what happened in this particular case."

According to police records, Rarick was arrested July 7 on suspicion of grand theft of a motor vehicle. No records were found on Cohen.

No other details were immediately released.
