AVENTURA, Fla. – A man and a woman are facing charges after a police-involved shooting inside a parking garage at Aventura Mall on Wednesday.
Police identified the suspects Thursday as Kenneth Taylor, 19, and Quantazesha Moneisha Clark, 19.
According to police, an officer spotted the couple in a Honda Accord that was reported stolen in Hollywood on May 6.
Police said the officer ordered the suspects out of the car, but Taylor took off in the second floor of the parking garage near Bloomingdale's, nearly hitting the officer.
Police said Taylor struck the officer's vehicle, as well as a number of other vehicles in the garage and a garage pillar.
Police said the officer fired one shot at the suspect, striking him in the arm.
Taylor was taken to Aventura Hospital and Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Clark was not injured but was taken into custody because there was an active warrant out for her arrest.
Taylor faces numerous charges, including aggravated assault on a police officer, grand theft auto and felony aggravated fleeing.
Clark also faced numerous charges, including trespassing in a conveyance and resisting arrest. A judge released her on her own recognizance Thursday and told the high school senior to find better friends.
This is the second police-involved shooting at the mall in recent years.
In 2009, police said they were forced to fire at Audley Sylvester Clarke, then-23, after he waved a gun at someone during a road-rage incident.
In that incident, Clarke ran into a parking garage while fleeing from officers, police said. He survived his injuries and was taken to jail after being released from the hospital.
