MIAMI – Gov. Rick Scott said Monday that the Florida Department of Health is investigating one new non-travel-related case of the Zika virus involving a Palm Beach County resident.
Scott said the person who acquired the Zika virus recently traveled to Miami-Dade County, so health officials are investigating to determine the source of the infection.

Health officials still believe the locally acquired cases of the Zika virus are coming from mosquito bites in the Wynwood area of Miami.
The Florida Department of Health has confirmed 16 locally acquired cases of the mosquito-borne virus, all believed to have been contracted from mosquito bites within an area smaller than 1-square mile north of downtown Miami.
The area of concentration is between Northwest Fifth Avenue and Biscayne Boulevard to Northwest 38th and Northwest 20th streets.
Scott said he has directed state health and education officials to work together in providing Zika virus prevention guidance and resources to students, parents and educators.
There have been 428 confirmed cases of the Zika virus, including 55 involving pregnant women. Miami-Dade County leads the state with more than 100 confirmed cases of the Zika virus, while Broward County is second with 55.
