MIAMI – Richard Gere was in Miami for the premiere of "Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer."
Gere's Friday night appearance at the Olympia Theater was part of the Miami Film Festival's inaugural night. During his short talk, he celebrated the diversity of the crowd.

"Are there any Jewish people here in the audience?" The crowd cheered. "Are Latinas, Latinos here?" Women cheered. One shouted, "we love you." He smiled and said, "And I love all of you too!"
Alluding to the differences between him and the character, Gere said he didn't know why he was chosen to play Norman Oppenheimer, a character who served as a hub in a vast social network, and who got caught in an international political scandal. But he said the script was "brilliant."
The 67-year-old dashing actor posed for photos on the red carpet with his new pretty woman, Alejandra Silva. The 34-year-old Spanish businesswoman wore a canary yellow knee-length dress.
