Key Largo students have fun while learning about fire prevention

KEY LARGO, Fla. – Volunteer firefighters in Key Largo have been busy with disaster relief and rebuilding since Hurricane Irma.

But on Wednesday, they made sure not to forget the children of the Upper Keys during Fire Prevention Week.

Firefighter Paul Mosiczynski said his team converged on the Key Largo School to show children how to "stop, drop and roll," and how to be safe in the event of a fire.

He said it was a nice way for students to have some fun following a storm that disrupted so many lives.

Students in Ms. Melguizo's second grade class enjoyed seeing fire trucks and practicing their aim with fire hoses.

"It's always exciting to have the firefighters visit our school. They teach us so much about fire prevention," Melguizo said.
