Witness shares video of dogs taking ‘chunks’ out of Miami-Dade man knocked out of wheelchair

Miami-Dade Animal Services considers euthanizing 2 dogs after bloody attack in Florida City

FLORIDA CITY, Fla. – A witness’s video shows the brutality of a recent dog attack in deep southern Miami-Dade County. Two dogs named Boo-boo and Jumpety knocked out a man from his wheelchair.

Neighbors said the owner of the dogs was in jail, and Jumpety, the black dog in the video, already had a reputation in Florida City since he had attacked before.

The video also captured the sound of a semi-trailer truck’s horn as its driver attempted to scare away the dogs on Wednesday near Northwest 10 Street and Fifth Avenue.

A witness who asked not to be named said he felt helpless when the dog was “getting chunks” off the man, so he and others started to throw things at the dogs, but nothing worked.

The dogs stopped. The man, who frequented a corner store nearby, survived but he had to undergo arm surgery. John Oz, an area resident, said the man is well-known in the neighborhood.

“I have known him since 2018. He frequents Walmart,” Oz said.

The Miami-Dade Animal Services took custody of the two dogs and a decision about whether or not to euthanize was pending on Friday night.
