Dog lovers needed at Medley animal shelter on Saturday. Adoption fees waived

MEDLEY, Fla. – Sweet “Mocha,” a chocolate brown dog, has been at the Miami-Dade County animal shelter in Medley waiting to be adopted since October. Nearly 200 other rescue dogs were also in need of a home.

The Miami Dade County Animal Service’s facility, at 7401 NW 74 Ave., is over capacity, so there will be an adoption event from 1 to 5 p.m., on Saturday.

The county agency will be waiving all of the adoption fees and giving the first five a take-home kit.

The situation is dire.

The Medley facility used to be for dogs that needed to be in quarantine. The overpopulation has forced that to change.
